Columbus Families:

The following email contains information on a change in the plan for parents and students to collect student materials and an update on meal delivery during our extended break.
Parents and students needing to pick up only necessary personal items or materials should call their child's school office tomorrow, WEDNESDAY, March 18, between the hours of 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.

Roundy Elementary: 319-728-6218
Secondary Building: 319-728-9106

School personnel will gather the materials and bring them to your vehicle between the hours of 12:00 PM-4:00 PM. Upon arrival, please call the school to let them know you are there. After this time-frame, families will be unable to access personal items in the schools until further notice.

All medication will be located at Roundy. If you are picking up any medication please call the Roundy office, this includes any secondary students.
Necessary items include medications, glasses, materials for online courses that may still be occurring, etc...
This does not include school supplies (pencil boxes, books, folders), PE shoes, etc...

Grab & Go sack meals for children under 18 years of age will be at the following locations on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. Each sack will contain breakfast and lunch meal items and milk for two days with the exception of Friday. Please be patience as we work through figuring out the estimated number of prepared meals to provide at each location. In the event that we run out of meals we will make a second delivery. In an effort to comply with social distancing these meals must be taken home and eaten. Questions may be directed to Tammy Mapel (319) 728-2911 ext. 9092 or Tashia Wheeler (319) 728-9106.

9092 o Tashia Wheeler (319) 728-9106.

Under state and federal law, Iowa is required to publish report cards reflecting every public school’s performance on multiple measures.  These Iowa School Performance Profiles help stakeholders understand how their schools are serving students, as well as identify those schools that require support and improvements provided by the state.  Report cards and designations were recently released to the public.

This year, Columbus Community School District is proud to celebrate their performance in all three schools:

  • Roundy Elementary moved up from the Acceptable category last year to a designation of COMMENDABLE.
  • Columbus Junior High received a designation of ACCEPTABLE.
  • Columbus High School received a designation of COMMENDABLE.

No schools in the district require targeted support or improvement at the state level.  This is great news!  Congratulations to the students, staff, and community on these achievements!

Attention all incoming 7th and 12th grade parents.
Iowa immunization rules have changed for next year and the vaccine for meningitis is now required for next year's 7th graders and Seniors. 7th graders are required to have a Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) booster and the meningococcal vaccine. Seniors are required to have a meningococcal  vaccine after they have turned 16 years of age. Iowa immunization code does not allow school attendance if the meningococcal vaccine has not been received. Your child will not be able to attend school next year unless this requirement has been met.
